Diving For Pearls & Pearls Before Wine

It was wonderful to see all our friends and make some new ones at our Oysters Bubbles and Pearls event the other night. Bringing together lovers of jewelry and art, the evening went off with a bang! We are now planning our next event - a talk on the history of pearling in Broome by Marlikka Perdrisat at 2pm, Sunday May 12. Marlikka is a young indigenous woman from Broome - the pearl capital of Australia - and has worked in the industry there for many years. Eastern Treasures

This Saturday March 30 at 12.30pm Jewels on Queen will host Turkish author and jeweller Oytun Camcigil for a special talk on the magical properties of Turkmen jewellery. Born in Istanbul, Oytun developed an interest in antique jewellery from the Middle East and Central Asia. As a student of architecture, she started collecting antique silver pieces from different eras and later drew inspiration from them when she began creating her own unique jewellery. In 2017 Oytun celebrated her extensive collection in a beautiful photographic book Eastern Treasures, which gives a rare insight into the workmanship and deep meaning of these exquisite jewels. Queen of Hearts

Happy Lunar New Year! Today's new moon marks the start of twelve whole months of good fortune and luck. And with Valentine's Day just around the corner, we thought we'd celebrate the auspicious mood in the air by shining a light on some of our favourite heart-shaped jewels. In a series of  photographs by Lorrie Graham, our Queen of Hearts, Odetta models some seriously stunning pieces from our collection and that of our mothership, Anne Schofield Antiques.
